I visited Dalbam Moon Night in convoy Koreatown last night to try their new menu, and wow I was impressed! The bossam was delicious and offered 2 options at a great price. The entire menu provides excellent value, making it an affordable choice without compromising on quality. I tried the spicy samgypsal cheese,Kimchi fried rice,Maeun cheese dakgui & Bossam from the new menu. Definitely coming back. However the parking situation can be a bit challenging. Despite that, it's definitely worth a visit!
Food: - Bossam tastes good just a bit expensive in my opinion for lack of veggies, you'll have to add another $7 for vegetables when other restaurants come with it typically. 4/5 - seafood pancake - it was very crispy and lacked seafood 3/5 Ambiance: Small and crowded but a good place to come for night life and Korean food with drinks - best for bigger groups Service: 4/5 - they are doing their best with the resources they have. I think overall, they have good service Parking: - always bad in convoy, there's a small parking lot if you're lucky if not street parking
Came here again and since it was a Saturday, it was very busy. The music was loud, but not as loud as the first night. At Dalbam Moon Night they have a variety of alcohol and snacking plates to go along with it. There were people with family, on dates, and large group of friends. This is a great spot to come to for good music as they played a variety this time. I was surprised to hear Ateez - Bouncy! This time we sat on the left side of the restaurant and it was much brighter than the right (which is more of a private table). The wall on the left had a bunch of paper stars and a light up moon. It was super pretty! They had fun chalk menu depicting their new dish as well. The waitresses were super kind and attentive. This time we just ordered Bulgogi (it comes with a rice already so we ordered one more rice), Ddukbokki, and Seafood Pancake. I think next time we might have to stick to two items since it was super fulfilling! It was around $67.88 for the 2 of us, plus tip ending the night at $80.88!
The food at this Korean restaurant is nothing short of exceptional. The bossom stands out as a masterpiece - the pork is sliced whisper-thin and cooked to perfect tenderness, accompanied by traditional ssamjang and fermented radish that showcase its authentic Korean heritage. The green onion mixture adds a delightful fresh element to this hearty, classic dish. The seafood soup strikes an impressive balance between richness and heat, with the natural sweetness of clams and shrimp shining through the spicy broth without being overwhelmed. The restaurant's ambiance captures the essence of a genuine Korean dining establishment. The thoughtful layout features well-separated tables, and the comfortable seating adds to the welcoming atmosphere. The overall design and decor create an authentically Korean vibe that enhances the dining experience. The service elevates the experience even further, with attentive staff who maintain a perfect balance of care and consideration. The waiters regularly checked in on diners, and their generosity showed in the complimentary dishes they offered. The staff's willingness to engage in Korean conversation added a personal touch, and both the servers and owners demonstrated genuine warmth and hospitality throughout the meal. 10/10 experience and would definitely recommend. Give this place a try if you love homey and hearty Korean food!
Located in the same plaza as grandma tofu and cross street chicken, it was a little challenging to find. Loved the food here. Service was great and they check on you often. I came on a Wednesday night for my birthday and it wasn't that busy at 6:30p. I feel like this is a later night place. We had the army stew and the seafood pancake. The seafood pancake was really crispy and light but thick at the same time, one of the best ones I have had. The army stew. I have no words. It has approximately 4 portions and me and my bf loved it! For $80, we had soju too and food to take home for lunch the next day. Love dalbam please be open forever!
Dalbam Moon Knight is an eatery/bar in the Convoy area that specializes in Korean food, particularly "anju" (Korean drinking foods), stews, pancakes, and noodles. Parking can be found in the plaza's parking lot (can be packed depending on the day/time) or on the street around the location. Ambiance-wise: Dalbam's vibe is being an evening/late-night spot for friends to meet and eat good food, drink, and socialize. The restaurant itself has limited space and models itself similar to eateries or izakayas you may see in Korea or Japan with booths and tables mainly to seat small groups (but can seat one big group at a time). They have catchy Korean pop music playing in the background on the TVs but it's not blaring like some other similar restaurants may have which is a plus for me since I don't like having to turn my voice up for people to hear me or have people repeat what they're saying to me. There is a starry sky on the walls and ceiling, bottlecaps hanging in the booths, and celling lamps that give me full moon vibes. Seating/booths are set up in a way where I feel like the groups of customers don't really disturb each other and loud noise gets blocked off well. Service-wise: I have been here multiple times, and the servers here are always fantastic. They always check in periodically but never at a level where they're disturbing the flow, all have been quick and efficient with orders, can be personable/funny depending on who you get, and all always great with recommendations. Food/Drink-wise: I'll just start by saying I will immediately recommend the bossam (boiled pork shoulder wraps). It is amazing and by far the best bossam I've had in San Diego. All the other foods I have gotten here have been fantastic as well such as the jjolmyeon noodles (a Korean cold noodles dish - chewy & a little tangy/sweet/spicy, served with veggies), takowasa appetizer (raw octopus with wasabi), tofu kimchi (grilled pork belly with tofu and kimchi, cucumber/seaweed salads, corn cheese, pork or chicken bulgogi, chicken wings, and the seafood pancake. I would love to try the remaining dishes, particularly the big hotpot (although not a huge fan of hot pot but willing to give it a shot), and soups. Like other Korean restaurants, they also provide you with side dishes that can be refilled as much as you want. A weird additional note on food is their white rice: it's just plain white rice, but it's strangely made very well here. The little things, right? For drinks, they have a great deal for beer pitchers - $17 dollars vs $5 for a glass which also isn't a bad deal. Soju comes in at 11 dollars which is a decent price as well. The drinks pair really great with the food. In summary: Dalbam Moon Knight has become one of my favorite and go-to spots in the Convoy area. They serve great food, have good prices on drinks, provide great service, and maintain a good, chill vibe for small groups to meet and drink/eat for hours. I used to not be a huge fan of Korean food other than KBBQ, but Dalbam opened my eyes to different cuisine and turned my distaste for kimchi around which is an extra plus. I recommend this spot 100% to anyone who enjoys Korean food.
I'm a sucker for k-bars!! Glad this is a new establishment in Convoy. Their food was total comfort and hit the spot. We shared the bossam, army stew, cheese corn, and chicken wings for 5ppl... and had leftovers to spare! Plus a few bottles of soju. I was a happy camper, with a full belly. :D Service was also superb! They have a parking lot, though I can imagine it gets full depending on time of day. Love that they open till late, yay for late-night dining! Enjoyed our experience, and plan to come back!
I love coming here! The food is always delicious, and the vibes are perfect for a chill night out with friends. It's a true hole-in-the-wall gem where you can kick back, eat, and enjoy a few drinks We ate: - Jokbal $29 - 10/10 Always delicious and flavorful, never dry. Pairs perfectly with the green onion and garlic. - Samgyupsal $19 - 10/10 Juicy grilled pork belly. Always good with some soju to wash down. - Corn cheese $10 - 7/10 Just a basic corn cheese, nothing special, but still good. - Bulgogi fries $16 - 7/10 These are decent but a bit basic; I wish there was a little more meat. Still a good finger food to pair with alcohol. - Steamed sea conch $ (I forgot)- 9/10 Loved this! The sea conch had a clean, umami taste, and the green onions and red sauce added a nice depth. It's similar to a giant clam, hard to describe but worth a try!
Came here with friends. My first time here. Pro tip: come when they first open because this place can get busy. Server was nice and friendly. She brought us complimentary cheese corn. What we got Cucumber appetizer 2x - yum Pork belly dish - it was fried. It was good Bulgogi Chicken - also good Seafood pancake - big portion. Was ok Would definitely come back and try other things
